Retail store analytics usually means sales, inventory and POS reports. Huq adds the view from outside the store: how many people visit each location, where they come from, how long they stay and how that compares with nearby competitors and your industry. It works for any US address with no hardware and updates weekly. Request a free analysis to see one of your stores next to its local competition.

Huq platform overview video: a visitor heat map

The overview video tours the Huq platform, from the Explore map to Projects and exports. As you watch, think of each store in your network as one area. Retail store analytics in Huq means selecting that store, reading its foot traffic and catchment, and comparing it with competitors before you set the result next to your sales.

  • Projects: group every store into one folder, track status and see weekly visits for the whole network at once.
  • Brand and industry performance: compare each store with competitor brands and its industry to tell a store problem from a market shift.
  • Exports and data feeds: load store-level visits next to POS sales, or receive Parquet or CSV files in Amazon S3 or Google Cloud Storage.

What is retail store analytics?

Retail store analytics usually refers to the reports a retailer builds from its own systems: POS sales, inventory, loyalty and staffing. Those tell you what happened inside the store. They don't tell you what happened around it.

Huq measures store performance from outside the store. For each location you see visits, residents versus visitors, where they come from, how long they stay and how often they return, compared with nearby competitors and your industry. Huq does not replace your POS. Its CSV and Excel exports and data feeds sit next to your sales data.

Put the two together and you can answer a question sales data can't answer alone: is it the store or the street? If visits are steady but sales fall, look inside the store. If visits fall at your store and at competitors too, the local market has shifted. More than 1,000 locations are manually validated in each of Huq's 35 markets twice a year.

What's in your retail store analytics report

01

Weekly visits per store

How many people visit each location every week, ready to set next to your own sales figures.

02

Where visitors come from

Each store's catchment, so you can see how far it draws and whether that reach is growing or shrinking.

03

Dwell time and visit frequency

How long people stay and how often they return, compared store by store across your network.

04

Competitor and industry benchmarks

Each store's visits next to its closest competitors and its industry, so you know whether a change is local or yours alone.

What a retail store analytics report shows

A sample store performance check: one store against its local market and nearest competitor. Monthly PDF location reports give the same view for every store.

Store visits vs the local market

01

Store visits vs the local market

Your store's weekly visits against the surrounding area. A gap that opens up points to a store-level issue rather than a quieter street.

Your store vs the nearest competitor

02

Your store vs the nearest competitor

Visits, dwell time and frequency side by side. Use it to see whether a competitor is taking your visitors or the whole market moved.

Catchment comparison across your stores

03

Catchment comparison across your stores

Where each store's visitors come from. A shrinking catchment is worth checking against that store's sales trend.

Frequently asked questions

What is retail analytics?

Retail analytics is the use of data to understand and improve how a retailer performs: sales, inventory, pricing, staffing and store performance. Most tools work on internal data such as POS and inventory. Huq covers the external side for each store: visits, residents versus visitors, catchment, dwell time and how it compares with nearby competitors and your industry.

Does Huq replace my POS or BI tools?

No. Huq does not handle sales, inventory or POS reporting. It adds foot traffic and catchment data you can set next to your sales. Export CSV or Excel files, or receive data feeds as Parquet or CSV files in your Amazon S3 or Google Cloud Storage bucket, then load them into Power BI, Tableau or Looker.

What are the best retail analytics platforms?

It depends on the question. POS and BI tools are best for sales, margin and inventory. Door counters suit in-store conversion. To see how each store performs against its local market and competitors, you need external foot traffic data, which is what Huq provides. Many retailers use two or three tools together.

What do I get in the free analysis?

Send us one store address. We return a short store performance check: weekly visits against the local market and your nearest competitor, where visitors come from, and dwell time and visit frequency. Compare it with your own sales for that store.

How often is the data updated?

Weekly. Each week's visits are added for every store you track, so you can watch the effect of a remodel, a promotion or a new competitor week by week rather than waiting for month-end or quarter-end reports.

Which stores can Huq analyze in the US?

Any store address across the US. No hardware or access is needed, so you can analyze your whole network, your competitors and sites you are considering. Huq operates in 35 markets and manually validates more than 1,000 locations in each of them twice a year.
