What is retail expansion?

Retail expansion is the planned growth of a store network. A chain opens new stores in cities it already serves, or it enters a new country. The key questions are where to open, how many stores a city can support, and what each new store does to the existing ones.

In the DACH region, expansion often means moving between three different markets. A German chain may enter Austria or Switzerland. An international brand may start in Berlin, Munich or Zurich and then roll out. Rents in prime shopping streets are high, so a wrong site is expensive.

Huq gives expansion teams one consistent dataset across all three countries: footfall, catchments, competitor presence and cross-visitation, refreshed weekly. Germany is Huq's best market, with a published MAPE of 13.5% against landlord-reported footfall.
