Retail site selection in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg is easier when every candidate is measured the same way. Huq shows footfall, visiting versus passing traffic and catchment for any address, including vacant units and competitors' stores. Compare a shopping street in Ghent with a centre in Rotterdam, then benchmark both against your best stores. Huq has 800+ validated target areas across Europe.

Huq platform overview video: a visitor heat map

The overview is a tour of the full platform. For site selection, look at two parts. The Explore map is where you would check any address, including an empty unit. Projects are where a shortlist lives, so every candidate is compared on the same figures. Both work the same way in Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

What is retail site selection?

Retail site selection is the process of deciding where to open a new store. It usually has four steps: pick the cities or regions, shortlist available units, compare them, and take the best one to a decision.

Benelux expansion adds its own questions. Many chains enter from one country into the next, for example a Dutch brand opening its first Belgian stores. Local knowledge is thinner, and footfall counts from cities or landlords are not always comparable. Huq measures every address with one method. You can compare a unit on a Belgian shopping street with one in a Dutch shopping centre directly.

The core questions stay the same. How many people visit the area around the unit? Where do they live, and how far do they travel in km? Which brands trade nearby? And how does the site compare with stores that already work for you?
