If you're searching for a foot traffic API, you probably want visit data inside your own warehouse, models and dashboards. Huq doesn't offer an API. It delivers data feeds instead: Parquet and CSV files written to your Amazon S3 or Google Cloud Storage bucket every week, covering footfall by week, month and year, residents vs visitors, catchment and dwell time. More than 1,000 locations are manually validated in each of Huq's 35 markets twice a year.

How Huq data feeds replace a foot traffic API

Huq platform overview video: a visitor heat map

This short overview tours the Huq platform: the Explore map, Projects and exports. Feed files follow the same schema as platform exports, so watch for the metrics you'd load into your warehouse. Huq doesn't offer an API. The same data arrives weekly as Parquet or CSV files in your Amazon S3 or Google Cloud Storage bucket, ready for your pipelines.

  • Explore map: check any location's footfall and catchment before you add it to a feed.
  • CSV and Excel exports: files in the feed schema, useful for testing a pipeline before setup.
  • Data feeds: weekly Parquet or CSV files in S3 or Google Cloud Storage, with no API calls to maintain.

What is a foot traffic API?

A foot traffic API is a programmatic way to pull visit data for physical locations into your own software. Instead of reading charts in a dashboard, a developer or analyst requests visit counts, visitor origin or dwell time for a set of locations and loads the results into a warehouse, BI tool or model.

Teams usually want one for three reasons: to join visit data with sales or POS data, to analyze thousands of locations at once, and to refresh models without manual exports.

Huq doesn't offer an API. It meets those needs with data feeds: Parquet and CSV files delivered to your Amazon S3 or Google Cloud Storage bucket each week, ready for a warehouse, notebook, Power BI, Tableau or Looker. Feeds can include footfall, residents vs visitors, catchment and drive time, behavior metrics, density, and POIs, brands and industries. The same data sits in the Huq platform, so business users can check any location on the Explore map.

Frequently asked questions

Does Huq have a foot traffic API?

No. Huq doesn't offer a foot traffic API. It delivers data feeds: Parquet and CSV files written to your Amazon S3 or Google Cloud Storage bucket every week. Feeds can cover footfall, residents vs visitors, catchment and drive time, dwell and frequency, and brands and industries. Pipelines load each new file without API calls to build or maintain.

What's the difference between a foot traffic API and a data feed?

An API lets your software request data on demand. A data feed delivers files on a schedule to storage you control. For weekly foot traffic data, a feed does the job well: your pipelines pick up new Parquet or CSV files each week and load them into your warehouse, notebook or BI tool.

How do I get foot traffic data?

Use Huq's self-serve platform, or take the data as feeds: Parquet and CSV files delivered to Amazon S3 or Google Cloud Storage. Feeds can include footfall by week, month and year, residents vs visitors, catchment and drive time, dwell and frequency, density, and POIs, brands and industries, plus demographics and spend in selected markets. Start with a free sample.

How often is Huq foot traffic data updated?

Huq foot traffic data updates weekly, and new feed files arrive in your bucket each week. Weekly data smooths out one-off spikes, so your models see real trends build rather than short-term noise.

What's in the free foot traffic data sample?

Tell us the locations you care about and we'll prepare a sample: weekly visits, where visitors come from, dwell time and visit frequency, in the same Parquet or CSV format as a full feed, plus a dashboard view. There's no charge and no commitment.

What is the best source of foot traffic data?

The one that is accurate for the places you care about. Ask how the data is validated, then test on a site you know. Huq manually validates more than 1,000 locations in each of its 35 markets twice a year. In Huq's own study, its visit data tracked Walmart's quarterly US net sales with 0.85 correlation and 3.8% error.
