Huq's foot traffic analytics show how many people visit any US store, how that changes week to week and how you compare with the competition. There's nothing to install, so you can measure a competitor's store or a site you're considering the same way. See visiting versus passing traffic, catchment, dwell time and dayparts. Huq manually validates more than 1,000 locations in each of its 35 markets twice a year. Start with a free analysis of one store.

Huq platform overview video: a visitor heat map

The overview video shows the Huq platform end to end. For a store, watch how it is found on the Explore map, how weekly visits, visiting versus passing traffic and dayparts appear for it, and how the same view extends to competitor stores. It then shows how a store list is tracked in Projects and shared as reports.

  • Explore map: draw around any store, yours or a competitor's, and see weekly visits split into visiting and passing traffic.
  • Behavior measures: dwell time, visit frequency and dayparts show whether a dip means fewer visits or shorter ones.
  • Projects and PDF reports: monitor every store in a list and send monthly reports set against regional and national benchmarks.

What is foot traffic analytics?

Foot traffic analytics is the study of how people move between places: how many visit a location, when they come, how long they stay and where they travel from. Data can come from door counters and cameras inside a store, or from aggregated visit estimates that cover any address, including sites you don't own.

Counters tell you about your own doors. Visit estimates let you compare. That makes them the usual choice for location decisions: screening a new site, checking whether a store's slowdown is the store or the street, sizing a trade area or seeing what a competitor's opening did to your visits.

Huq is not in-store counting hardware and doesn't measure conversion at the till. It gives you weekly foot traffic data for any US store, split into visiting and passing traffic, with catchment, dwell time, dayparts and cross-visitation. Track a whole store list in Projects, or send monthly PDF location reports to the people who need them.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get foot traffic data?

Door counters give you data for your own doors only. A foot traffic data provider like Huq measures visits to any address without hardware, so you can see weekly visits, catchment and dwell time for your stores and competitors' on the same basis. Use the Explore map, export CSV, Excel or PDF reports, or take Parquet and CSV data feeds.

How accurate is foot traffic data?

Huq tests its estimates against independent figures. In Huq's own validation study, Huq visit data tracked Walmart's quarterly US net sales with 0.85 correlation and 3.8% error. In Great Britain, Huq's accuracy is 81.9% against an industry benchmark of around 65%. In Germany it is 85.5%. More than 1,000 locations are manually validated in each market twice a year.

How often is foot traffic data updated?

Huq foot traffic data updates weekly. Each week adds a new data point to the site's history, so you can see trends build, compare year over year and spot changes after a store opening, closure or refit without waiting for a quarterly report.

Which US locations can Huq measure?

Any address across the US: stores, shopping centers, main streets and competitors' sites. Huq covers 35 markets in total, and more than 1,000 locations are manually validated in each one twice a year. No sensors or cameras are needed, so you can analyze a competitor's site or a site you're considering the same way you analyze your own.

What's in the free foot traffic analysis?

Send us one US address, yours or a competitor's. We'll prepare a free foot traffic analysis showing weekly foot traffic, where visitors come from and how long they stay, then walk you through it. There's no commitment and no hardware to install.

How do you measure foot traffic?

There are two ways. Door counters and cameras count entries at your own stores, which suits conversion rates and staffing. Visit estimates measure places from the outside, so they work on any address, including competitors and sites you haven't opened. Huq uses the second approach, and the two work well side by side.
