Huq is location intelligence for teams deciding where to open, lease, invest or intervene across the UK. It turns observed footfall and visitor behaviour into answers for any address: a high street unit, a shopping centre, a retail park or a competitor's store. Catchment, dwell time, cross-visitation and geo-spend sit next to footfall in one platform, with an 18.7% MAPE in Great Britain against landlord-reported footfall.

How the Huq location intelligence platform works

Huq platform overview video: a visitor heat map

Three things decide whether a location intelligence platform works for a UK commercial team. Look for them as you watch this Huq overview: how quickly an area is drawn on the Explore map, whether footfall and catchment for one address sit on one screen, and how Projects group a portfolio for reporting. If those steps feel quick, the rest follows.

  • Draw a catchment around any UK postcode, or switch on travel-time layers
  • Compare visiting and passing traffic on a high street or retail park
  • Group sites into Projects for weekly monitoring and monthly PDF reports

What is location intelligence?

Location intelligence is the practice of using data about places, and the people who visit them, to make better decisions about where. In the UK the term covers a wide field. GIS teams use it for mapping and spatial modelling. Retailers, landlords and investors use it to judge how a site actually performs.

Huq sits in the second group. Its location intelligence is built on observed footfall and behaviour: how many people visit, where they come from, how long they stay and where else they go. It does not replace a GIS. It gives commercial teams the evidence about visitors that a map layer on its own can't.

Typical UK questions: should we take the unit on the high street or the one on the retail park? Is this shopping centre winning visitors from its rivals? Is a portfolio company's store estate holding up? Is a council's regeneration scheme drawing more visitors than similar town centres? Huq answers these for any address, without counters or sensors.

Frequently asked questions

What is location intelligence in the UK?

In the UK, location intelligence usually means using data on places and their visitors to decide where to open, lease, invest or intervene. Huq focuses on observed footfall and behaviour for retail chains, landlords, investors and councils, across high streets, town centres, shopping centres and retail parks.

What should I look for in location intelligence companies?

Check three things. Does the provider publish accuracy by country? Huq reports an 18.7% median error in Great Britain against landlord-reported footfall. How broad is the data: footfall alone, or catchment, behaviour and spend too? And how is it delivered: a platform, exports, reports or data feeds your analysts can use?

Does Huq deliver location intelligence data by feed rather than API?

Yes, by feed. Huq has no API. Technical teams take data feeds instead: Parquet and CSV files delivered into Amazon S3 or Google Cloud Storage buckets. Commercial teams use the platform, CSV or Excel exports and monthly PDF location reports.

How often is Huq's location intelligence data updated?

Huq data refreshes weekly. You can view footfall by week, month or year, compare periods and follow trends. Weekly data suits the decisions location intelligence supports, such as signing a lease, choosing a site or reviewing an asset, which play out over months rather than hours.

Which UK locations does Huq cover?

Any address in the UK: high streets, town centres, shopping centres, retail parks, competitors' stores and sites you haven't opened yet. No counters, sensors or cameras are needed. Huq manually validates more than 1,000 locations in each of its 35 markets twice a year.

How does the free location intelligence analysis work?

Send us the sites or area you care about using the form on this page. Huq's team runs a free analysis of those locations, covering footfall trends, catchment and visitor behaviour, and talks you through what it shows. There is no obligation to buy.
