Visitor origin analysis

United States
Segment systems describe the households in each neighborhood. Huq shows which neighborhoods actually send visitors to your US locations, every week.

We handle your details in line with the CCPA and applicable US state privacy laws.
Geodemographic segmentation tells you what kind of households sit in each neighborhood. It does not tell you which of those neighborhoods actually send people to your store. Huq adds that behavioral layer for any US address: where visitors come from, residents versus visitors, how often people return and how long they stay, measured weekly. In selected markets it also profiles visitors by age, gender and purchasing power. Start with a free visitor origin analysis for one location.

The overview shows the Huq platform: the Explore map, its map layers and the metrics each area returns. For geodemographic segmentation, look at the catchment and ZIP code layers, which show the areas that send visitors to a location, and the residents versus visitors split. Those areas are what you match against your segment system. CSV or Excel exports, or Parquet and CSV data feeds, bring the results into your own tools.

Geodemographic segmentation groups people by the neighborhood they call home, on the premise that people in the same neighborhood tend to resemble one another. Systems such as Claritas PRIZM and Esri Tapestry classify US neighborhoods into lifestyle segments, mostly built from census data with cluster analysis. Marketers use them to profile customers, size target markets and decide where to advertise or open.
The limitation is that segments describe residents, not visitors. A store draws heavily from some neighborhoods and barely touches others, and a segment map alone cannot show which. Visitor origin data fills that gap, so you can apply your segment system to real visitors rather than a fixed radius.
Huq provides that behavioral layer: visitor origin, catchment and drive time, residents versus visitors, visit frequency and dwell time. In selected markets it adds demographic profiling and geo-spend by category. It is not a census segmentation system like PRIZM or Tapestry.
01
See the neighborhoods your visitors travel from, ready to match against the segmentation system you already use.
02
Find the areas that supply most of a location's visits and how far visitors travel, instead of assuming a radius.
03
How often visitors return and how long they stay, so you can tell a loyal local base from occasional trips.
04
How much of an area's traffic comes from people who live there and how much travels in.
A sample analysis for one location, built from weekly visit data. Here is what each view tells you and how teams use it alongside a segment system. Huq manually validates more than 1,000 locations in each of its 35 markets twice a year.
01
Darker areas send more visitors. Match them against your PRIZM or Tapestry segments to see which segments actually visit, not just which ones live nearby.
02
The primary catchment often looks nothing like a 3-mile ring. Profiling the real catchment gives a truer picture of the customers a location serves.
03
Read alongside segments, these views separate regular local trips from occasional destination visits, and show how much traffic comes from outside the area.
Huq covers any address in the United States: shopping centers, main streets, downtowns, strip malls, competitors' stores and sites you haven't opened yet. No counters, sensors or cameras needed.

Geodemographic segmentation groups people by the neighborhood they live in, on the premise that neighbors tend to resemble one another. Systems such as Claritas PRIZM and Esri Tapestry classify US neighborhoods into lifestyle segments. Huq adds which areas actually send visitors to each location, so you can apply those segments to real visitors rather than a fixed radius.
Demographic segmentation groups individuals by traits such as age or income. Geodemographic segmentation groups neighborhoods, assuming that neighbors tend to share characteristics. It combines location with census-style data, which makes it useful for site and media planning, but it cannot show who actually visits a location.
In selected markets, Huq profiles residents and visitors by age, gender and purchasing power, and adds geo-spend by category; availability varies by market. Alongside that it provides the behavioral layer: where visitors come from, catchment and drive time, residents versus visitors, how often people visit and how long they stay. Many teams also apply their existing PRIZM or Tapestry segments to Huq's visitor origin data.
Pick one US location, yours or a competitor's. We send a visitor origin analysis showing where its visitors come from, its primary and secondary catchment, residents versus visitors, visit frequency and dwell time. It is free, and there is no hardware to install or customer data to share.
Weekly. Each new week is added to the history, so you can see how a catchment shifts after a competitor opens, a store is remodeled or the season changes, rather than relying on a segment update that comes once a year.
Huq covers stores, shopping centers, main streets and other addresses across the US, and works in 35 markets worldwide, manually validating more than 1,000 locations in each market twice a year. No sensors, cameras or hardware are needed, so you can analyze any address, including competitor sites, on the same basis.
