Retail location data from Huq gives your analysts store-level footfall, catchment and visitor behaviour for any UK address, in files they can load straight into their own models. Data arrives weekly as Parquet and CSV files in your Amazon S3 or Google Cloud Storage bucket, so you can join it to sales, property and customer data in your warehouse. Commercial teams can use the same numbers in the platform.

Retail location data in the Huq platform

Huq platform overview video: a visitor heat map

Your analysts will mostly work with files, but the platform overview is still worth a look. It shows the kinds of measures Huq covers, such as footfall, dwell, dayparts and catchment, and how areas are drawn or selected on the Explore map. Use it to agree with Huq which locations and measures your feed should include.

  • Check the measures you need in the platform before you specify a feed.
  • Define store, competitor and retail centre areas once and receive them in every weekly drop.
  • Use CSV or Excel exports for one-off pulls while the feed is set up.

What is retail location data?

Retail location data describes what happens at and around physical stores: how many people visit, when they come, how long they stay, where they travel from, and what else sits nearby. It sits alongside points-of-interest data, which tells you where stores are, and adds how busy they are.

In the UK, retail analysts and data science teams use it to build site models, explain sales variance between stores, forecast new openings and track competitors on the high street, in shopping centres and on retail parks. They usually want it in their own environment, not another dashboard.

Huq delivers data feeds rather than an API: Parquet and CSV files dropped into your Amazon S3 or Google Cloud Storage bucket, refreshed weekly. The same data is in the platform, as CSV or Excel exports and in monthly PDF location reports.

Frequently asked questions

What is retail location data?

Retail location data describes activity at and around physical stores: footfall, visit timing, dwell time, catchment and nearby places. Analysts use it to explain differences between stores, build site and forecasting models, and benchmark against competitors. Huq provides it for any UK address, refreshed weekly.

Does Huq deliver retail location data by feed rather than API?

Yes, by feed. Huq delivers data feeds rather than an API. Technical teams receive Parquet and CSV files in their own Amazon S3 or Google Cloud Storage bucket, refreshed weekly. For smaller pulls, you can export CSV or Excel from the platform, per area or combined.

How often is the data delivered?

Huq data refreshes weekly, and feeds follow the same cadence. Each weekly drop carries the footfall, behaviour and catchment measures agreed for your locations, so your models always run on the latest week. One-off pulls can come as CSV or Excel exports from the platform.

Which UK locations does the data cover?

Any address in the UK: individual stores, competitors' sites, high streets, shopping centres and retail parks, including sites you haven't opened yet. Huq manually validates more than 1,000 locations in each of its 35 markets twice a year.

How accurate is Huq's retail location data?

Huq publishes accuracy country by country, as median error against landlord-reported footfall. For Great Britain it is 18.7%; under 30% is considered healthy. Sample sizes per country are in Huq's downloadable validation report, which your analysts can check before they rely on the data.

Can I test the data before setting up a feed?

Yes. Send us a list of stores and we'll run a free analysis of your portfolio, so your analysts can compare Huq's figures with your own counts or sales before you specify a feed.
