Retail footfall analysis

United Kingdom
Store-level footfall, not a national index: weekly figures for your stores and new sites, so you can tell a location problem from a store problem.

Up to 5 locations. No cost, no commitment.
We handle your details in line with UK GDPR.
Retail footfall tells you how many people visit your stores and the places around them, and how that changes week to week. Huq measures it for any UK address, so you can see every store in your estate, your competitors' stores and sites you haven't opened yet. PizzaExpress combined Huq's monthly footfall with sales across 370+ UK stores to separate location problems from operational ones.

The overview covers the whole platform. A store or area manager should focus on Projects, where your full estate would sit in one folder with status tracking, and on the measures for each location: weekly trend, visiting vs passing traffic and dwell time. Every figure can be exported to CSV or Excel to sit next to your till data.

Retail footfall is the number of people who visit a store, a parade or a retail area over a period. National figures, like the monthly monitors in the news, tell you how UK retail is doing on average. They don't tell you how your own stores are doing, or why one store is beating its neighbour.
For a retailer, footfall matters at store level. If sales fall but footfall around the store holds up, the issue is likely inside the store: range, staffing or layout. If footfall falls too, it's the location. That is the split PizzaExpress used Huq to make across its UK estate.
Huq gives footfall for each store and the area around it, with visiting vs passing traffic, dwell time, catchment and demographics. Because it needs no in-store counters, you can measure competitors' stores and new sites the same way as your own.

In retail, footfall is the number of people who visit a store or shopping area in a given period. Retailers use it to judge locations, compare stores and understand conversion. Huq measures footfall for any UK address, including competitors' stores, without counters in the store.
Divide the number of transactions by the number of visitors over the same period, then multiply by 100. Huq gives you the footfall side for each store, refreshed weekly, and you can export it as CSV or Excel to set against transactions from your own tills.
Start by finding out why it is low. If people pass but don't come in, look at frontage and offer. If few people pass, it's the pitch. Huq shows passing vs visiting traffic, dwell time and catchment for each store, so you can test changes and see the effect week by week.
Huq's data refreshes weekly. You can view each store by week, month or year, track period-on-period change, and receive monthly PDF location reports with KPIs, trends against regional and national benchmarks, weekday patterns and dwell time.
Any address in the UK: your stores, competitors' stores, high street units, shopping centres, retail parks and sites you haven't opened. Huq covers 35 markets in total, so retailers with stores abroad can use the same platform and method.
Share your store list, or a sample of stores, through the form on this page. Huq's team runs a free footfall analysis for those stores and walks you through what stands out, such as stores losing footfall faster than the area around them.
